The CranioSacral system (CSS) is the membrane that surrounds and protects your brain and spinal cord. The cranium, vertebrae and sacrum protect the CSS; however, if any of these bones are mis-aligned they can impinge on the CSS, which can result in stress on the central nervous system.
CranioSacral therapy is a technique that gently mobilizes the bones of the cranium, vertebrae and sacrum to release restrictions on the CSS. The effects of CranioSacral treatments can be deeply calming and liberating.
An imbalance or dysfunction in the CSS can cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. With regular treatment, reoccurring issues associated with the CSS can be alleviated, such as:
- scoliosis
- migraine headaches
- sinus problems
- fibromyalgia
- temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ)
- chronic neck and back pain
- traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries
- nervous disorders
- learning disabilities
- chronic fatigue
- immune disorders
- post-traumatic stress disorder
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a style of soft-tissue massage that balances the central nervous system. A unique aspect of the therapy is the release of trigger points, similar to deep knots in muscle tissue; the points cause local and/or referred pain throughout the body and stress the central nervous system. NMT techniques effectively treat trigger points resulting in improved blood flow, less pain, improved muscular function and better body alignment.
